The Gold Standard of Tooth Replacement

In the past, replacing a tooth meant wearing a removable prosthesis such as a denture, or altering natural tooth structure so that a bridge could be bonded over neighboring teeth. With dental implants, it’s like having natural teeth all over again.

Permanent dental implants can be used to support a variety of restorations, including:

A Lifetime of Stability

Dental implants are stand-alone tooth replacements that function as if they were natural teeth. Each tooth implant is made of an artificial titanium root that:

  • Is stronger than natural teeth
  • Can support the pressure of multiple teeth at one time
  • Encourages new bone growth throughout your jaw
  • Has the highest success rate of any dental restoration
  • Can last for an entire lifetime
  • Prevents the need to alter or irreversibly adjust adjacent teeth
  • Is biocompatible with your body

Your Dental Implant Experience

Every True Design Dentistry implant case is planned on a patient-by-patient basis. Our staff discusses which teeth you need to have replaced, which ones can be salvaged, and the type of implant restoration that is most beneficial to your individual oral health. In some cases, we may also recommend a bone graft prior to the implant placement in order to promote healthy levels of bone support.

Your First Appointment

At your first dental implant appointment, we will numb the area being treated and place the prosthetic roots directly into your jaw in the location of your previous tooth roots. We then allow a period of healing to take place, where new bone formation can occur and the tooth implant becomes stabilized. It is best to wait approximately 3-6 months for this osseointegration process to occur. But don’t worry, during your healing period, True Design Dentistry will place a beautiful, temporary restoration that will preserve aesthetics and function while your new bone is forming. Even though these restorations are temporary, Dr. Nick Refahi ensures they hold to the True Design Dentistry standard for each patient, as if we were caring for our own family members. After osseointegration is achieved, we will place an abutment onto the implant, which supports the permanent restoration, such as a dental crown, dental bridge, or denture. Once the dental restoration is bonded into place, you’re left with a permanent smile solution that quite literally feels and functions like your own tooth.
