Quality Treatment. Fast Results.
San Diego True Design Dentistry patients can have the smile of a lifetime in just a two to three appointments. Your first visit will include a consultation with us to discuss what you would like to change about your smile. Depending on your needs, we may create a mock-up model with your prospective veneer design before your actual treatment.
After your consultation we will set up a preparation appointment where your teeth are gently shaped and slightly roughened so that a veneer can bond securely to your enamel. We will then take an impression so that we can create models of your mouth and then design the perfect set of permanent veneers. Until then, we will place temporary restorations over your teeth to prevent sensitivity.
In 2 weeks, your custom-designed veneers are ready! Dr. Refahi will remove the temporary restorations, clean the teeth, and then bond your beautiful porcelain veneers permanently into place. No anesthesia is necessary. You’ll walk out the front door with a brand new smile that you can’t wait to show off!
Are Veneers Right for You?
Porcelain veneers can be used alone, or in addition to other cosmetic or dental treatments like zoom whitening, bonding, and dental implants. If you’re curious about whether or not veneers are an option to help you transform your smile, we invite you to contact us to set up a consultation with Dr. Refahi and his team. We’ll talk you through the veneer process and give you the information you need to make an educated choice about the future of your smile.
What should you do before visiting our practice?
This is one of the common questions our patients have when visiting our San Diego dental office. As a patient you can make a note of what is that you dislike about your smile. It can be the color of your teeth, size, shape or the way your teeth are aligned. Discuss your idea of a perfect smile with our dentist. As stated above, dental veneers can be used to cover a wide range of esthetic issues with the teeth. Our dentist performs smile analysis and lets you know if dental veneers can really work for your case.
Maintaining porcelain veneers is quite simple. Treat them as you would your original teeth, with routine brushing and flossing daily. If you have a habit of grinding your teeth, our dentist may fit you with a nighttime mouth guard so you do not damage your veneers. One week after your veneers are placed, you will be required to return to our office, so that our dentist can see how your mouth is reacting to the veneers.
The properly done porcelain veneers usually last a very long time! Some porcelain veneers can last about 10 years. But really they last much longer in patients who take good care of them with proper oral hygiene and routine cleanings. Also, wearing a mouth guard will minimize stress on them and allow for greater longevity.
Since Dental veneers are not permanently fixed to your teeth, sometimes they may be damaged . Generally, it is recommended to exclude some food and eat only soft food during the first few days after the veneers placement. Most common products to avoid are toasts , meat , chocolate, hard food such as ice, candies, popcorn, candy, apples, crunchy food such as nuts, seeds, crisps and drinks like tea, coffee, coke and similar beverages, red wine etc.
