Preventive Oral Hygiene Care for a Lifetime of Healthy Smiles

Preventive oral care is the foundation of our relationship with every True Design Dentistry patient in San Diego. We believe by helping patients prevent oral disease they can experience stronger smiles, minimize the cost of care over time, and live healthier lives.

Some of the ways we do that is by providing essential services during each of our preventive care appointments:

Cleanings and Dental Exams in San Diego

Preventive dental cleanings are one of the best ways to keep your breath fresh, remove a stain, and eliminate tartar that accumulates between everyday brushing and flossing. We’ll review oral care routines with you to help make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your teeth clean and free of disease. These dentist appointments are also an important time to assess your teeth individually, screening for signs of tooth decay, wear, or damage. Most of our patients schedule their preventive visits every 6 months. Are you behind on your cleaning? Contact us today to catch up!

Diagnostic Digital X-Rays

Our low-radiation digital radiographs help us screen for bone loss and tooth decay during its earliest stages. That means dental treatments can be more proactive and less invasive. With enhanced imaging on our in-room monitor, you’ll be able to diagnose conditions side-by-side with our team.

Periodontal Exam

Screening for gum disease keeps your teeth stronger and helps your smile last a lifetime. Finding areas like gum pockets and infection when they are just beginning makes it easier to reverse them completely. We use a small probe to measure the depth of the pocket around each tooth to make sure your gum tissue is attached at a level that is healthy and free of infection.

Oral Cancer Screening

Precancerous and cancerous tissues are often not discovered on your own until they have progressed into advanced stages of a disease. We screen for abnormal tissues such as red, white or raised lesions to identify abnormalities when they are small and easiest to treat.
