San Diego’s Leading Invisalign® Dentist

Invisalign® braces use state-of-the-art technology to align your teeth without the use of metal braces. In fact, the invisable aligners are completely removable so that you can have healthier, cleaner teeth during your treatment at True Design Dentistry.

Invisible Braces, Straighter Teeth

What does Invisalign® correct? Teeth that are:

  • Crooked and misaligned
  • Gapped or spaced
  • Uneven
  • Wearing down prematurely due to location
  • Causing TMJ disorders due to an abnormal bite

The Invisalign® Process

Unlike old-fashioned methods of orthodontics, Invisalign® uses computer-generated 3D modeling systems that create a series of dental aligners that guide your teeth into the correct position. Each set of transparent aligners is worn 2 weeks at a time before you replace it with the next set in the series. Gradually, you move your teeth without ever needing adjustments in a dental office.

A quick check-up with your San Diego dentist every 6-8 weeks will ensure that your Invisalign treatment is progressing as desired. True Design Dentistry will then provide you with the next few sets of clear aligners for you to continue treatment at home. Most of our patients complete their invisible orthodontic treatment in 12-18 months!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Invisalign® system feel uncomfortable?

Aligners are made of smooth, BPA-free plastic and do not cause discomfort to cheeks or lips. A new pair of aligners may feel slightly uncomfortable during the first few days of use since they are designed to apply pressure on teeth and push them in the planned direction. The discomfort is worth bearing considering the transformation achieved in the smile.

Can Invisalign® treat any malocclusion case?

Though Invisalign® aligners can be used to treat a wide range of malocclusion cases; there is a certain limit to the extent of complexity which can be treated using the aligners. Our San Diego dentist performs a thorough examination to let patients know if the dental aligners are suitable for their particular case.

What are the benefits of Invisalign®?

Invisalign® systems are also called as clear aligners or invisible braces.
Some benefits are:

What are the drawbacks of traditional braces?

  • And moreover, you can’t eat whatever you want

Dental braces or Invisalign®: which is the better option for a sports person/instrumentalist?

You might get hit with a ball while playing or you might get distracted while playing music when you are on metal braces or braces or traditional braces. But Invisalign® makes you feel comfortable while you are doing your job and you can enjoy those moments.

Can Teens Use Invisalign®?

Absolutely yes. Any teens can go for Invisalign® treatments to get their teeth straight so that they can get back their smile back. Since Invisalign® is invisible your friends may not know about your orthodontic treatment. Instead of putting/wearing metal braces, and hiding your smile, it’s better to go for Invisalign® for teens and show your smile with confidence. It also makes your social life easy.

How Long Does the Invisalign® Treatment Take?

The time span required for an Invisalign® treatment depends on the severity of the case. Normally it may take about 12-18 months.

Are Invisalign® braces uncomfortable?

In most cases, they are usually painless, although some people have minor temporary discomfort for a few days at the beginning of each new stage of the Invisalign treatment.

Can you eat with Invisalign® in your mouth?

It is recommended that you remove your Invisalign® before eating anything, as the pressure used while chewing food can crack down the trays.

How do I take care of my Invisalign® aligners?

Brush the brace by taking it out from your mouth and rinse the brace in lukewarm water. Clean and dry it or sanitize your aligners using Invisalign® cleaning kit and dry it before you wear it.

Will smoking stain the aligner?

Firstly, smoking is injurious to health and always should be avoided. Smoking while wearing an aligner can discolor them.

How often I must wear an aligner?

To get effective results you have to wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Remove aligners only when having food and snacks.

Are there any restrictions to eat and drink when I am under treatment?

No, thanks to invisible removable aligners! You can eat and drink your favorite food. You need to remove your aligners before eating and once you finish up you have to rinse your mouth with water or brush your teeth then wear the aligner to keep your mouth fresh.

Can I chew chewing gums while wearing aligners?

No, you should not, because chewing gum will stick to aligners. Though sugarless chewing gums are good for teeth while wearing dental aligners, you are advised not to chew.
